A regular high-end residential developer client employed us to undertake the structural design of a new double basement and new superstructure framed building in Notting Hill.
The project involved a retained façade to the front elevation while the rest of the building was demolished to allow for an open plan site. The new structure has restricted columns to the perimeter of the building line to allow for an open plan internal space.
The project required extensive collaboration with Card Geotechnical Engineers on the construction methodology to ensure that predicted ground movements stayed within acceptable limits for the local planning authority and party wall surveyors. The solution involved working closely with the temporary works designer to ensure that props were located in specific locations to ensure that deflection was minimised at critical locations.
