Coombe Cross

A regular client of ours, Inspired Assets, bought this existing four-storey concrete framed building in Croydon. As usual the building was converted from an existing office block into a set of first-time homeowner flats. The project involved adding a two-storey extension to the top of the existing structure and overhauling the existing cladding to create individual balconies for each apartment.

The balconies required close co-ordination with the architect to ensure that they were detailed in such a way to ensure that cold bridging did not occur through the structure and cladding system.

After an in-depth structural investigation, we were able to confirm that the existing structure was capable of supporting the new structure without the need for additional steel grillage at roof level. This approach of fully investigating the structure allowed the client to save on the steel weight of the proposed structure and increased the floor-to-ceiling height of this extension.
